Here’s something interesting, and slightly disgusting, from AdRants.
You’re on a flight, and not feeling to well. You grab the ‘sickness bag’- also known as barf bag- to relieve yourself.
The question is: Would you notice advertising on the bag?
Apparently, some airlines in the America think so, and will soon be offering advertisers the opportunity to place images on the sides and bottom of these bags. US Airways could be doing it as early as this September.
What advertisers would want their brands associated with vomit?
Airlines in the US are also exploring other ‘non-traditional advertising’ opportunities like cups, napkins and ticket jackets.
With such other options available, starting with ‘barf bags’ is a bad idea.

He’s an artists whose work is seen everyday by hundreds of millions!
Yet he’s unknown.
Dennis Hwang is the 28-year-old webmaster/artist who has been drawing Google’s logos since 2000.
You’re probably familiar with some of his famous works like this one:

The Anniversary of the Wright Brother’s first flight
And there are countless designs commemorating all sorts of occasions, from all over the world.
Many designers admire Dennis’ work, and some are fans who save his drawings and have built up a collection of them.

AdBlogArabia reported the launch of Dubai Life a couple of months ago.
It’s good to see the second issue and it’s still the UAE’s sole online-only magazine, which is designed like a regular print magazine complete with a cover….. but is not printed.
Actually, you could print it yourself, by downloading the PDF version.
It’s a magazine that covers several aspects of living in Dubai, with some focus on the construction and tourism boom in the country, and it promotes the noble cause of supporting the construction workers of Dubai.
The team behind this magazine are Waseem Aslam, Nadeem Aslam and Kashif Naveed.

This is a simple concept, that smartly highlights one of the frustrating aspects of reading material on the Internet. Sometimes, it’s just not available for some reason, hence the dreaded statement we get everyday: ‘page cannot be displayed’.
BooksPlus, a bookstore, want to remind us that when you’re reading a book, the page is always there.
This again opens up the debate of print versus online. No matter how digital our lives become, there’s always going to be a time and place to enjoy a book.

The war raging between Lebanon and Israel is causing a massive jump in the traffic of Arabic news sites, with the biggest impact reported by Al Jazeera.
Al Jazeera.net claims to have registered 6 million ‘visits’ yesterday, and leaping in rankings from 190 to 113.
It’s not clear were they got the ranking data from, but if you run a check on Alexa, you’ll get the following results: Today’s rank is 127, this week’s average rank is 146 and the 3 months average is 290. So, it’s quite an impressive leap.
These numbers, if validated, would make AlJazeera.net the top Arab site in terms of traffic. At least, for the duration of this conflict.
