This is, probably, the first business news podcast service in the region. AMEInfo started offering podcasts in mid-June, and it seems to have gathered pace.
In addition to specific topics, there’s a ‘latest news’ round-up of the region’s business news available for download everyday, even on Friday! Apparently, it’s been downloaded 17,000 times so far in July.
Sponsored by Nokia, it’s another money maker for AMEInfo and an indication of advertising revenue opportunities to come for other portals and online services in the region.
Arab bloggers have been podcasting for a while, with some particularly distinguished efforts by the likes of Haitham Sabbah, Ahmad Humeid (MixUpArabia) and Jameed (JameedKast).
But now it’s a business in the Middle East. Expect other major business news players like Strategiy, Zawya and MenaFN to follow.
AMEInfo already had a business radio service, so the move to podcasting was smooth. But, getting into Podcasting is simple, if you’ve got the content that people will want to listen to.
Someday, we’ll give you an AdBlogArabia Podcast; for now, check out some of the ‘casts’ mentioned above.

TECOM has announced its online directory at www.td.ae.
TECOM Investments comprises the following Free Zones: Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Knowledge Village, International Media Production Zone, Dubai Outsource Zone and TECOM Outlets.
Obviously, such a resource is going to be useful for these vibrant industries, boasting information on hundreds of international and regional companies who have set up shop in Dubai.
As you can see, the site offers advertising opportunities and is being managed as a media project in its own right.
Check it out.

Apparently, the global media buying race for 2006 is being won by Starcom Mediavest group, who surpassed OMD.
According to a revised ranking of media agencies released late last week by RECMA, the Paris-based consulting firm for media agency billings, Publicis’ Starcom MediaVest Group has projected $25.580 billion in 2006 worldwide media billings.
Making is the largest single media agency network, with a 7.4 percent share of the global marketplace of media planning and buying.
With $24.880 billion in billings, OMD is a close second with 7.2 percent of the global market, followed by MindShare (6.9 percent), Carat (6.8 percent) and ZenithOptimedia (6.6 percent).
In the Middle East, the rankings are different. But, the big five are the same in the GCC and Levant.
