Ads on Airsickness -barf- bags

BarfBag

Here’s something interesting, and slightly disgusting, from AdRants.

You’re on a flight, and not feeling to well. You grab the ‘sickness bag’- also known as barf bag- to relieve yourself.

The question is: Would you notice advertising on the bag?

Apparently, some airlines in the America think so, and will soon be offering advertisers the opportunity to place images on the sides and bottom of these bags. US Airways could be doing it as early as this September.

What advertisers would want their brands associated with vomit?

Airlines in the US are also exploring other ‘non-traditional advertising’ opportunities like cups, napkins and ticket jackets.

With such other options available, starting with ‘barf bags’ is a bad idea.

Read the details in The Miami Herald.

I guess anti-sickness pills would be the only sane choice of ad placement on that bags…As for other supports, I guess we will soon see ads on the flight attendants’ back.

As for advertising in restrooms, this is quite common in Romania at this time. There is this specialized advertising company designing them. They are always trying to send a funny message and I think it’s quite a great space to be exploited, given the large number of people using these toilets in malls, clubs, restaurants etc.

Thanks for your comment Moey and Alina.

As Alina says, the ‘vomit bag’ could carry advertising for suitable health products…. but I expect it will be used in a humurous way or to critisize a product or personality … like in the next US election :)

As for bathrooms…. well, I need to blog about that.

    Stay tuned.
