    With all due respect, the person that presented this to a client, should not be allowed to work in this industry. (Strong words I know and here’s why)…

    A. Okay lets associate the permanence of death with the permanence of our product

    B. Okay lets use names like David and John on tombstones for advertising in Oman

    C. Okay lets use tombstones that do not replicate or illustrate a graveyard we might see in Oman (that’s if we getaway with using a graveyard in our advertising)

    D. Okay lets write on a cow SOMEONE please call PETA

    E. Okay lets use photoshop to make it rain so we can show that our product is water resistant

    It’s been a long time since a piece of work on this blog has generated such “outrage” from me and seriously this work is insulting.

    That is unless I am not seeing something else that these ads are supposed to be saying

    OMG!

  • Magnetic

    @amre, exactly
    besides i couldn’t stop laughing at the date on tombstone, faber-castel seem to produce time machines as well !

  • booyakkasha

    Desperate.

    This type of stuff is known as chip-shop ads. In other words, why is a highly reputable agency doing an ad for a chip-shop, that’s what small agencies earn a crust for.

    It reaks of desperation and i have to say, this is student work. I expect to see this in a first year students portfolio.

    Agree with Amre.

    I have a question for Noufal Ali.
    I am guessing that you are from India. Can you tell me out of all the great agencies in India why youre not working there?
    Is it because you couldnt get a job there?

  • restless

    Quick Comment,
    do you work in the gulf region ?

  • Quick Comment

    @restless, no. Why?

  • restless

    nothing really, just asking ,,, Btw the gulf region is full of Indian creative’s especially Oman, UAE, and Bahrain ,,, and now after the resection they are even more,

  • Quick Comment

    after the recession there are more? that just proves that the Gulf accepts all the leftovers of the world with open arms.
    I believe the Middle east has alot of creative people, why not hire talented Arabs or even better build design and advertising universities to educate their own people instead of building the tallest tower, underwater hotels and other nonsense projects

  • restless

    Quick Comment , i am working in the gulf region and i don’t think that i am a leftover :) ….

    There are some good Arab creative people working in the gulf region but still the majorities are the Indian and the European,

    At the end we are in the communication business and “ahlo Mecca adra beshe3abiha” :)

    “I believe the Middle east has alot of creative people, why not hire talented Arabs or even better build design and advertising universities to educate their own people instead of building the tallest tower, underwater hotels and other nonsense projects.”

    You should change your name from Quick Comment to Profound Comment.

    I totally agree with Beirut.

    Noufal Ali of FP7, Oman have no intention to stop ripping off other people work, here he goes and does it again ..http://advertiser-in-arabia.blogspot.com/2009/04/totally-busted-copy-cat-ads.html
    It is common knowledge that Europeans/ Westerners tend to do shortcuts when delivering project to an Arabic client due to the fact that we allow them to feel superior “ I don’t ”however, copy cat is usually not an individual mistake, Agency and its network share responsibility and consequences.
    But we are in an Arabic country, no consequences will be suffered , in the contrary, they will claim original idea theirs…
