Jordan Advertising A-wars: Y&R vs. PG

August 29th, 2007 Zeid Nasser (Admin)

Jordan Advertising Awards Y&R

This message is clear. Quite creative, and aimed directly at a major rival, but it’s a bit too nasty and overly offensive!

Jordan Advertising Awards Publicis

The answer from the ’2nd finger’ ….. Ouch!

Also, quite creative.

First of Peter (creative rules) the tire ad is straight stolen from a concept for Pirelli soon we will post it for you to see on all blogs interested in embarrassing you. The real funny thing is the way you started your commentary. Y&R’s ad is very creative…well since your the guy behind the ad, kind of makes sense that you would defend it.

Since Zeid answered you on the knocker I wont even try. Why dont we go back to Arab Ad copy cat section of 2006 and see how many times Y&R and Intermarkets jordan were honored as copy cats. Also if you remember that insurance ad you guys did in 2005 that won an award that also turned out to be a copy and lets not forget the cozmo ad stolen from the uk…so please if you’re going to talk have the ability to back it up. Dont accuse anyone of being a copy cat when that is exactly the way you work, ask your own staff they’ll tell you.

If I was you I too would be worried, four years, no real growth in the number of advertising wins an expatriate salary and all the other agencies even AGA catching up with you…tick tock or in this case knock knock!

most of Al-Kasee7 ads are stolen :) specially the can opener ad and AL-homos sperms ad,, :)

Guys ……. Did you forget that this childish debate is seen across the region and from all over the world …

3anjad 3aieb heik …. Is this how you want to show the Jordanian Advertising industry when top creative and top managment from top advertising agencies in Jordan talk ???????????

    Walahi 3aieb …..

Grow up plzzz all of you and concetrate on your work and on helping and raising the level of the Jordanian advertising industry …

  • creative rules

    Lion Rules.

Again all you do is make up things without proof.

I know nothing about the Pirelli ad you talk about. (It may just be a coincedence so I’d be interested to see it) Nor the Copy Cat ads in Arab Ad. And which insurance and Cozmo ads are you talking about?

On the subject of advertising wins we have won a huge amount over the past 4 years. MobileCom, Nabil, Fine, LG, Emmar and Jordan Insurance are just some of them. Plus growing all our current clients and winning projects from them internally.

And on the subject of growth we are almost double the size we were 4 years ago.

So I’m feeling pretty relaxed actually how about you?

    Cheers

  • creative rules

    Restless.

You ‘re also just making stuff up as you go along.

Show us the ads that Kasih ripped off please.

  • Uncle Sam

    Creative Lose !!!!!!!!!!!

  • LIONS RULE

How is 34 to 45 in 4 years double the size? If Zeid Nasser is anywhere on this blog can you please explain the copy cat section of Arab Ad, and the numerous recognitions of Y&R Jordan therein.

Emaar isnt a local win, you have it out of Dubai. You dont work for Fine anymore do you? Jordan Insurance is aligned with your owners and mobilecom wasnt that an embarrassment at the awards for you…

  • http://www.ragejoadv.com restless

I will, just need some time to dig for them

  • LIONS RULE

    RESTLESS

Hommos sperm ad is stolen from Hagen Daz…just for the record, maxim pineapple ran once and then stopped when they found out its copied from a Jordanian agency…the tag line for Bank of Jordan’s summer campaign “Flip your life” was the line for Fastlink summer campaign in 2005…

  • http://Advanced Mohammad Waheeb

    congratulations to 2 & 3 & 4 & ……………&100

  • creative rules

The Hommos sperm ad was done before I came here so I can’t tell if it was stolen or not. (It was done by a very talented guy called Ramzy so I doubt it)

We never used the line ‘Flip your life’ for the BOJ or anything like it.

Don’t know which Jordanian Ad agency’s pineapple ad your’e talking about (please be specific)the Maxim ad ran many times, is still running and is sceduled to run in the future. (How would you know how many times it ran anyway?)

Emaar and JIC were both accounts we had to present to and win.

I do recall a section in Copycat 3 years ago (not 2006 as you claim) where an outdoor campaign that ran in Lebanon was similar to ours and when we checked when it ran we found it went up after we did.

(I’d like Zeid to send me any other times we made copycat but I can assure you if we did we would’ve known about it.)

And when I say doubled I didn’t mean just staff. (obviously I’m not at liberty to discuss details)

You know what? I’m tired of debating with someone who can’t get their facts right.

Say what you want, make up as much as you want and show whatever you want I don’t care.

    Auvoir

  • http://www.ragejoadv.com restless

Don’t doubt it, The Hommos sperm ad is 100% stolen even ramzi Haddad knows this fact :) , it was for Fox food products as I can remember and I am trying to find it, I will find it together with Al-ksee7 can opener ad … I will prove that soon

  • Lions Rule

See the advantage of having a foreign creative director…PETER…”FLIP YOUR LIFE” in Arabic is “RAH NIKLEB HAYATAK” which is even currently still running for BOJ, aren’t you ontop of things at y&r…?

Emaar is a worldwide Y&R account the creative guy that worked on the stuff for the Jordan project is based out of Dubai…The Maxim Ad was produced in 2004 and ran in the 2005 awards for another canned product. The ad was produced by AGA orginally.

You said doubled your wins in four years…I asked how 35 to 44 is double…nothing about staff…

So you are right the world still goes round. things will change soon the number one agency in Jordan will be Momentum and Partners and we’ll all be too busy checking our blogs…this has been fun…Zeid love da blog, love you and leave you!

  • creative rules

    Wrong…yet again on every point.

Allow me to interrupt you people , today while i am checking “Shuto” posts (who is creative rulz or peter) in ads of the world i saw the Fish Fart ad , damn man you were Defending the ad to death ,,, trust me this is the most stupid ad i have ever seen in my entire life even if it was just a dummy layout but still the concept is lame and not worth it to talk about .. beside I don’t like it when you said ” I agree it could’ve been executed perfectly but Hey… this is Jordan where we have clients who don’t pay for a thing and we have to band aid things together and lucky if we can shoot anything”

yes we have many client who they don’t want to pay much money for the art work but still always there is a way out so this is not a good reason to produce crapy work !!!

    btw this is the link:

    thanks

  • creative rules

What would you know if an ad is any good or not Useless.

You’ve never produced an ad in your life.

You’re just a junior designer hwho’s afraid of showing any of his work to anyone because you’re too embarrassed and terrified it’ll get ripped to shreds.

You have no credibility on this forum Usless so butt out and go back to designing matchbox covers.

  • creative rules

Okay okay now that I’ve read your anti foreigner statements etc etc on your interview on an another blog I get the picture.

Lions Rule is our dear friend Amre Hussieni in drag from Publicis Jordan.

The man that stormed out after Y&R started to win all the print awards and dictacted to all his staff to follow him out…abusing Zeid the organizer for not getting Publicis enough votes.

What…Zied does that tell you???? You rig the votes???? God forbid.

After which Amre hears from the outside (while smoking and drinking in the foyer) that Publicis is starting to do well so he races back inside (telling his staff to follow ) to bask in the glory.

He sits there along with his whipped in staff.. to witness …yet again that… inspite of all everything he has failed yet again,

He was reasured (through Amman rumour ..the best in the world by the way) that his agency would sweep the awards and finally top Team Y&R.

    Oh dear…it didn’t happen.

So he resorts to trying to discredict the award winning agency.

Let’s suggest their ads are ripped off.

    That’s a good tactic.

How about suggesting the Foreign Creative director is overpaid and hasn’t performed over the past 4 years????.
Errrr….he”s taken the agency to two record breaking results at the Jordan advertising awrads for the second time in a row???

(something you have promised to all your staff but didn’t deliver)

Let alone all the great new business wins over the past 4 years.

Hang on in there Amre maybe just maybe the next time you’ll get a little closer.

    Cheers and good luck.

(a word of advice… try not to be so jealous and bitter)

  • creative rules

Oh by the way I’ll be with the top brass of Publicis in a castle north of Paris on Wednesday I’ll give then your regards,

  • razor

I can’t believe all the hype over these ads.

The Team ad is not giving the finger to Publicis for God’s sake!!!!

It’s Publicis giving the finger to Team!!!!

If you read the headline it says: “How does it feel to be next to number one?”

The feeling for the second placed agency is to feel like giving the finger to the first placed agency.

    Don’t people read headlines anymore????

  • Kre8tive

    Damn Right.

  • lion rules

My dear peter from the name lions rule you can tell who I am, I have my email and my url there. not trying to hide anything and didnt pat myself on the back for my own creative recognition in any of the blogs as you did…go back through the history of the blogs. Didnt have to hide my name to commend my own work.

Sorry wrong about the Foyer thing…came back solely out of respect (personally for Zeid) not for the entire event or the awards. Especially given the fact that the ads you were winning with were either never placed Knot not or pirelli wannabe ad.

For your statement next time we’ll get closer. Look at the history of the event and you’ll see how close we’re getting my friend…

Finally wrong on all counts…about the ads you’ve stolen…prove me wrong…

For your visit to a CASTLE north of Paris, hope you get some useful creative insight…

Thinking about it Razor…you are totally right…

so cut the carp man and reconsider your negative attitude ..

  • http://www.ragejoadv.com restless

btw thanks for the information :)

  • Uncle Sam

    Razor,
Be reasonable, it’s a crystal clear finger from Y&R to PG, but I have to say that PG “Payback” finger was much much painful.

Besides, you are saying that Y&R did not finger PG, but PG fingered Y&R!!!!!!!!! & how did you concluded that (PG fingering Y&R) ??????

  • razor

    Uncle Sam,

    Read the headline.

    It’s really not that hard.

Who has the middle finger up?

Not Y&R they are number one so they are the index finger.

Publicis feels like putting up their middle finger to Y&R because they came second.

    Hello!!!!!

  • http://www.ragejoadv.com restless

Razor you have a valid point here , I do agree that it can be understood like this , but the thing is we all know here in Jordan that Y&R and PG fight so hard to be #1 , btw this is another weakness point in the ad ,, peter did you think of it :) it is more like shooting your self in the foot …

  • creative rules

    LION RULES (Alias Amre )

    Allow me to quote you.

“My dear peter from the name lions rule you can tell who I am, I have my email and my url there. not trying to hide anything and didnt pat myself on the back for my own creative recognition in any of the blogs as you did…go back through the history of the blogs. Didnt have to hide my name to commend my own work.”

HERE YOU SAY YOU’RE CLEARLY NOT AMRE HUSSEINI

“Sorry wrong about the Foyer thing…came back solely out of respect (personally for Zeid) not for the entire event or the awards. Especially given the fact that the ads you were winning with were either never placed Knot not or pirelli wannabe ad”.

NOW YOU’RE SAYING YOU ARE AMRE HUSSEINI (Unless there were two of you that stormed out)

So let’s stop all the bull.

Just accept the fact that you and your agency are the second rated creative agency in Jordan. (By the way you’re extremely lucky Adpro and Promo Seven didn’t enter otherwise you would’ve come in number four.)

By the way both the Knot Not and Tire ads ran in the local press. Just ask Media edge for a schedule.

Further more just to set the record straight, the idea of having a party to celebrate our record win with our clients was decided straight after the awards night, not (as you would believe) after we saw your response.

And while we’re on the subject of not hiding behind a name: Why do you also hide behind Samer Marzouq? You’ve clearly created this site as a Publicis facade pretending to give an unbiased point of view to the advertising world.

I must say everybody was enjoying this harmless debating until you came along and out of deep deep resentment and jealousy turned everything personal and nasty.

Now not only all your staff (embarrased I assume) know your true colours but so does the entire Arab advertising world.

Two more long years mate…enjoy them..we certainly will.

  • LIONS RULE

Samer Marzouq started as a copywriter at PG at the beginning of August, go back and look at his website set up date mate.

Harmless debating. Hiding behind a name to plug your own creative work….you’re right that’s harmless debating.

Another comment that shows your understanding of the market is thinking that Fp7 would have come ahead of us if they entered, with what artwork? In regard to ADPRO again another assumption on your part that they would have taken away from our wins obviously showing your confidence in your own work, something I commend.

Also I didnt understand where in that first paragraph I was denying who I am my friend.

Finally coming back to a point you brushed off because that’s the way you want to tackle this “friendly debate” when I commented on the BOJ “FLIP YOUR LIFE” ad did you deny that it is the same headline as the Fastlink campaign when you said “WRONG AGAIN”?

No matter how you look at it my friend the heat of this whole debate started with your entry under the name creative rules and your attempts to compliment the ad of Y&R as an outsider when truly you where the creator.

Yet I think that we both have a lot on our plate…so let’s just walk away from this with a shred of respect for the industry we belong to…nice talking to you PETER

  • http://www.ragejoadv.com restless

I still dont like the “Fish Fart Ad” ,,,, :)

  • creative rules

    Lions Rule (alias Amre)

Let me just say I’m sick of all this shit (and I’m sure everyone else is as well) so I’ll say it one more time.

I didn’t do the finger ad. I was on a tv shoot and saw it for the first time in the press on Sunday (like you did.) and loved it.

I can’t use my real name on an industry blog like this as I don’t have the authority to represent the company like you do (yet you still choose to hide behind a user name and didn’t have the guts to use your real name like you did at first)

You say it’s been nice talking to me? …the only nice thing for me has been nailing you everytime you post.

Like I said Amre …two long years…try hard to enjoy them..we certainly will.

  • creative rules

    Zeid Nasser,

I’d like to open the debate with everyone here on judging for the Jordan Advertising awards.

We must have more credible people judging.

I suggest getting well known and famous creative people who have a track record of award winning work achieved outside of Jordan.

A range of creative directors/art directors/writers and film directors only.

    Some Arabic some Western.

    Cheers

  • Gibbo

    Restless.

I don’t think anyone really cares about flatulating fish. Get over it pal.

We want more argy-bargy about industry ads.

  • http://www.ragejoadv.com restless

Peter, you talk too much cant you see that it is over ! You know what at the end the advertising in Jordan still not mature enough comparing to other countries in the middle east like UAE or Lebanon so no need for experts beside I don’t really believe in the Jordan advertising awards its full of Mutual interests and crap so CREATIVE RULZ if you want to prove that you are the real #1 go and win for Jordan some international advertising awards something like the cannes lions, instead of this pathetic debate!!

  • razor

    Restless.

    Let go pleeeeeeease.

He’s already moved on to the judging process

    smart nasty ad:)
p.s. poor publicis what a weak response! where is there creative department!!

  • Creative Rules

So….what about the subject of improving the judges next time?

Like I said most of them should be creative people. Wether they be top designers for BTL or creative directors and film directors. Throwing in a marketing director from a highly creative brand would also add to the mix.

The most important thing is that they must all be from outside Jordan.

People who actually do the work with great reputations and a proven track record of doing highly effective award winning work.

They must be an even mixture of Arabic and non-arabic. Say Lebanese, Egyptian, Saudi, UAE, Gulf states and North African for Arabic. And anywhere else for the rest. Europe, Turkey, USA, South Africa etc etc.

This would ensure a greater value to the award won.

Yes? No? If not why not?
