    I will be honest I loved the Y&R ad and it really made us search for a solution. The only thing that was a little insulting was the fact that it did not respect the local culture, it went overboard in regard to correctness I think…

    The Y&R ad was brilliant. A strong idea nicely executed and straight to the point.

    The Publicis ad?

    They played right into Y&R’s hands.

    A pathetic weak response.

    Badly concieved.

    Badly art directed and badly written.

    Overall a complete mess.

    The guys over at Y&R must be delighted.

    Y&R took more awards than Publicis even in the previous awards, if they have claimed #1 from Publicis this year that would have justified the offense, if you say you’re the no.1 agency you must act like no.1

    Creative rules….a brilliant ad? Don’t you know what culture you are in in Jordan, what about respect for tradition? Great creative works with cultural constraints as obstacles to deal with, it doesnt disrepect it. Just FYI Team Y&R invited all their clients to dinner the night after the PG ad to quite them down….DUHH!

    creative rules, i disagree with you beause:
    1- PG ad was polite some how
    2- they did something Y&R totally forgot about
    3- Y&R forgot about the Jordanian culture where this kind of visual is a super taboo, and not acceptable at all,,, I believe that who did this ad is not Jordanian and he knows nothing about the society (negativity brings more negativity)

    That’s not what I heard.

    Apparently they all went to eight on Abdoun Circle and celebrated the biggest win in the history of the Jordan advertising awards.

    Finishing I believe at 5am the next morning.

    Well, true, Y&R have churned out a much more creative, and also aggressive concept than Publicis, but it reflects such poor manners and taste. Publicis were trying to be very diplomatic in their response in order to gain the compassion of clients, and I think that generally, Y&R will be perceived as arrogant. What annoys me is that I’ve hardly come across a neat advertising campaign from either firm, and yet they blow up their creativity and wits when it comes to rivalry and competition, and not when it is regarding the client.

    i feel sorry for who thinks we are still in the stone ages.
    jordan is not what you think ,be more open minded when you look at AD’s next time.
    if you want to have world class AD’s stop whining and don’t use culture as a way to put down great work.
    and what Publicis did is waited 2 days to come up with a stolen AD ,maybe the internet was slow or something .
    hope next time they can count on the creative they got not look for ideas of the net ,what a shame.

    I dont think giving the credits to a foreigner creative director for such work IN JORDAN is fair at all.. afterall as mentioned, we still live in a very traditional culture, and this CD probably has no appreciation or recognition of it.. i blame the team who work with him for allowing such a disgraceful idea to show in newspapers!!

    i’m sorry that Y&R feel that way, since when advertising is that aggressive and nasty in this country?!! we dont have to reach this stage, we shouldn’t actually! where’s the high spirit of competition?! that’s not the proper way to deal with winning! shame on you Y&R!!!!

    Creative Rules…seriously are you on the Y&R payroll…lets be honest now…Also the night of the awards Y&R went out and celebrated all by their lonesome. Rumor has it that in resposne to the PG ad and to save face they invited their clients out Monday night, which as usual from Y&R would be toooo little toooo late!

    Again…To my humble knowledge, advertising doesn’t lead society, it in fact reflects society and I don’t think that seeing a middle finger (although it wasn’t that direct) in an ad is not that big of an issue or “taboo” unless you never seen one before! if that’s the case, you should pay a visit to Jordan and see it for yourself.

    Surely the house ad is your chance to do something great. Very few constraints. A positive message. instead, eveyone either did bland work, or felt they had to comepte with the big guys.

    Y & R did something controversial (barely), that we are still talking about. Great publicity for them.

    And the Saatchis ad. The power of love. Cmon. Isnt advertising about creating ideas based on insights? Not puns.

    i wonder what would a CEO of any local prestigious company think of the agency he’s dealing with after seeing them giving the finger to it’s competitor on papers :)

    remember that Jordan is still mainly a conservative market with few exceptions

Lets start with the tire ads, or maybe the Knot not ad, or would you prefer some quiet so you can concentrate on stealing a new concept for the brief in front of you?

    1. The Knot not ad was copied.

    2. The Kumho tires campaign was copied.

    3. In fact any work that Y&R has run has been copied.

    If you can’t you have no credibility whatsoever and just fall into the large camp of bitter and twisted Y&R haters.

    (And believe me there are thousands out there)

    Just for the record, last monday’s night at Eight to celebrate the record win with the THG group and their clients was organized on the night of the awards and not (as some people would like to think) on Sunday after seeing the Publicis ad.

    i believe that PG used the same image of the door knob, and they didnt use the same concept, the KNOCKING DOWN concept..

    and people chill for a moment!! I admire everyone’s loyalty to their own agency, yet remember we’re talking about the ethical use of Y&R’s “finger” ad, which i still believe is shameful..

    I wanted to sit this one out…. but it’s becoming silly.

    PG’s ad is NOT A COPY of the ad you are referring to.

    PG’s logo is the Lion, and the idea is to say that Y&R were ‘Knocking PG’ ….. any creative director could have put these things together for a Lion-mouth door knob which by the way exists all over the world and is not exclusive to India or wherever this supposedly copied ad cam from.

    The Y&R ad was Strong, PGs answer was as Strong …… everyone saw this fight and was entertained … CASE CLOSED!
