Lukewarm response to Ramadan’s shows

Big productions, huge budgets, more action and extensive visual effects on Arabic satellite channels… But it seems Arab bloggers are not impressed.
This opinion is shared by newspaper columnists across the region who are critisizing most of these shows; citing the problems to be some poor scripts, some bad choices in the selection of actors. … etc.
The drama seems to be losing out to the visual impact – the grandess of the costumes, the size of the set and the effects.
Maybe the whole Ramadan TV phenomena needs to undergo changes in coming years, and the typical mixture of historic series, biographies of Arab legends and game shows needs to be revised. Apart from some long-running comedies, and the occasional excpection among the Ramadan shows, the overall Ramadan season is somewhat dissapointing.
