This is, probably, the first business news podcast service in the region. AMEInfo started offering podcasts in mid-June, and it seems to have gathered pace.
In addition to specific topics, there’s a ‘latest news’ round-up of the region’s business news available for download everyday, even on Friday! Apparently, it’s been downloaded 17,000 times so far in July.
Sponsored by Nokia, it’s another money maker for AMEInfo and an indication of advertising revenue opportunities to come for other portals and online services in the region.
Arab bloggers have been podcasting for a while, with some particularly distinguished efforts by the likes of Haitham Sabbah, Ahmad Humeid (MixUpArabia) and Jameed (JameedKast).
But now it’s a business in the Middle East. Expect other major business news players like Strategiy, Zawya and MenaFN to follow.
AMEInfo already had a business radio service, so the move to podcasting was smooth. But, getting into Podcasting is simple, if you’ve got the content that people will want to listen to.
