HI, sorry, I’m not commenting on this ad I just wanted to throw an idea in for consideration.
I was wondering how everyone feels about introducing a rule that you have to put your name. Your actual name, on your comments.
Blogs like this can be a great way to share ideas, give encouragment, constructive critisim and foster a sense of community within our little business, but I am really getting sick of of the petty, un-constructive and sometimes nasty comments that are being posted here. I don’t have a shit load of time to visit this blog during the day, but when i do I would rather not have to wade through lines and lines of school yard dribble. I think the cowards that hide behind made up names would bugger off or change their tune if they had to put their real names on here. I guess a good rule is dont say anything that you wouldn;’t have the balls to say to someone’s face.
Guess what I’m saying is, this blog, if it is treated with a little respect, and the people who post work or comments were treated with a little respect, then it would be a much more worth while site to visit.
Anyway, just a thought. Wanted to throw it out there and see what everyone thinks.
    Righto

    I agree completely.

I feel that it could be a ‘turn off’ for creative people to send their work, and for site visitors to participate in the conversation when the bashing is done through fake personas.

Unfortunately, as site admin, I cannot determine who is using a ‘double personality’, because this is an open forum and all you need to comment is a username and an email, both of which could be fake. That’s the Internet!

So each commentor needs to be responsible for his/her authenticity.

Vegas, look at creative rules, everyone seems to know who he is and he still talks crap. Its the attitude of the people who visit this site that needs to be changed. Look at adsoftheworld, no one uses their real names but everyone comments like an adult and no one gets offended.
Im a blunt person by nature and i comment according to my true feelings on the ad, i have praised 2 ads on this page alone, the phone card and the push push and i got no negative feedback or someone trying to stir up shit. As soon as i dont like a piece of work i get attacked.
People are just not mature enough to accept criticism.
Zeid, i think you can control who comments here, lets face it there are only about 10 people who participate, im sorry but its true you dont have that many people on this blog.

  • http://mediame.com Zeid Nasser (Admin)

Quick Comment, first of all there are more than 10 people.

And, no I can’t tell who is commenting, all I can do is Approve / Unapprove a comment after it enters the system.

Unless someone clearly impersonates someone else, I do not remove comments; like what happened recently with Louai Al Asfanahi, when someone else posted using his name.

Your critique is welcome. You are blunt, but say what you have to say and accept the results :)

  • quickcomment

i may not be using my real name but believe me my comments are real and i really just comment as quick comment, im not sure how to prove to CR that i am not dozero or amre or whoever he thinks.
I dont think anyone is silly enough to post under 2 or 3 people, thats just ridiculous.

“you probably DO “have the highest number of comments for a regional blog” BUT what about the “Most professionals” part that was and advice not an attack.
if you moderate personal attacks which have nothing to do with the posted artwork you would most likely have more (quality) comments and less (personal abuse) comments…just a thought dont get worked up about it”.

NB. See Zeid im not the only one who feels this way, Vegas and many others share this view.

  • http://mediame.com Zeid Nasser (Admin)

    Huh? I’m worked up?

Look Louai, moderating personal attacks would be a matter of ‘personal opinion’, because I would have to decide when someone crosses the line and when they don’t …… that would be wrong and very subjective.

For now, the guys are keeping it at a reasonable level, and when they use foul language it’s censored.

And that’s the way it going to be on AdBlogArabia.

  • Dictator

Totally disagree, everyone his the right to be anonymous and says what he wants with-in respect. after all its an advertising forum, you cannot add restrictions to the creative mind. you might need to look beyond the offensive attacks and understand how this is working.

  • Dictator

another suggestion, why not add your Civil Id number. Just in case someone got offended he/she might be able to sue them. Im sure alot are on louai’s “sue list”

  • creative rules

Zeid I don’t know what the ****your’e *******talking about. Nothing is ******* censored on this ******* blog. Take for instance the word **** you never censor this word or any other ******thing. That’s because you’re a democratric **** and a very fair **** But more importantly you don’t want to spend all your ******time monitoring every ****** post and deciding which *******post is *******abusive or isn’t ******abusive. The fact is that there are some ****** on this blog that know sweet **** all about advertising and if an idea is ****** or not ******* So some *******like me has to come on and sort these ****** out when they comment. Weed out the clowns and chastise the dumb comments from ****** like Dumb Comment for example. Who pretends to live outside of the ME but we all know lives and works here in Jordan. Or evasive ****** like Amre. Someone has to keep a ****** like him in line otherwise ****** like him will continue to pull the ******wool over all the good ******posters on this great ******blog.

So Vegas be a good ******kiwi and take a *****chill pill because sometimes it’s very *******important to knock the **** out of these******* every now and then.

    Suh?

  • Michael Jackson

Wow, looks like creative rules really rules. NOT! W****r!

  • Michael Jackson

Oh great, now my comment is awaiting moderation – bet he’ll censor the wanker word.

  • creative rules

Seriously Vegas loosen up mate. (Watch a few All Black replays of the last trinations and open up a cold beer) It’s only advertising and it’s only an advertising blog.

A blog that has a strange mixture of weird characters. (Before Dumb Comment jumps in including me) You have to be a bit eccentric/weird/off the planet/fucked up to work in advertising these days. Especially in a creative department.

I personally can’t use my real name as it would put me in a position where I would be officially representing the company and I don’t have the authority to do that. And like you I don’t have alot of time during the day so I post outside work hours depending on the work load.

Have to agree with Dictator. Roll with the punches and read between the lines. Anyway it’s a lot more fun taking the piss out of each other. I find you learn alot more about the person and what they really think of the Ad when you’re having a bit of a dig at them. Besides there’s nothing too serious going on here. (Inspite of the odd Schizo) However, Amre did take a shot at me the other day as he drove past the agency (luckily he missed) LOL

  • Gibbo

I just figured why i have such a sore shoulder Creative rules…

I’ve been carrying you on the tennis court for about 15 months.

  • http://mediame.com Zeid Nasser (Admin)

Dear Creative Rules, maybe your web browser has not got the Adobe Flash plugin…. because it’s working fine.

If you don’t want to get into IE plug-ins, just download Firefox, from getfirefox.com, and you’ll have the latest browser with the latest plug-ins..

    Good luck!

the beginning is weak, the end of the commercial draw attention better, and didn’t like the voice over

I strongly believe that something should be done about the irrelevant, rude and non constructive comments being posted on this blog. I personally would not post work in here because of a previous experience I had on a different blog which included non-constructive comments and insults. To this date, there isn’t a single advertising blog for the middle east that would offer constructive comments and true opinions. I just do not understand how people in the industry itself can be as rude as some of the ones who comment rudely in here and yet claim to be creative or advertising oriented.
I believe that anyone should be able to comment, but comments should be decent, to keep the place itself decent. Otherwise you are gonna just have a place were you dump ads and campaigns, some of which are great, but get few comments and lots of repetitive fights and insults without getting the attention of great designers, talented art or creative directors because they do not think this place can offer room for decent conversations or arguments.

Sorry I completely forgot to actually give my opinion on this TVC. Its good overall but it needed a stronger punchline at the end + a better music in the background.

  • http://www.bloganubis.com Louai Alasfahani

Zeid…listen to your target audiance. forget the traffic and money you make from google ads it dont justify the insults ;)
NB. look at my blog…no insults there, only constructive comments mostly by professioals for professionals.
