    Makes me smile

  • http://www.petervegas.blogspot.com Vegas

Seen these on telly, they really stand out.

Great to see that there are clients that believe you can do an ad about business in this region that dont feature a local shaking hands with a white dude in a suit.

    Hats off

  • Marc

    Agree totally with Mr Vegas..

Also nice to see no sweeping helicopter shots, tabacco filters on the sky, 3D walk thrus, explosions in the background, or false promises about this place being the next big investment opportunity next to Ajman – yeah right.

    Well done M&C.

The concept has a huge impact, it keeps grabbing my attention on CNN, while noting that it was probably a tiny production budget…nicely done…

    I really admire it.

i agree the concept is different but the smiles are so fake and ugly !! correct me if i am mistaken

  • Gibbo

it certainly stands out on TV. well done.

congratulations to the client for choosing not to do a boring investment montage.

I think the simplicity is the power of this and sorry Restless I don’t think the smiles are fake at all.

However what I didn’t like was using the same Diva opera music we used for the Royal Jordanian bubble commercial last year.

M&C would certainly have seen it as it had heavy air time regionally.

Now if we decide to continue with this music we’ll be accused of ripping it off from this campaign.

    Not happy M&C.

Settle down restless, the same peice of music gets used for many different products etc. If you wanted exclusivity, perhaps your agency should have spent more on music rights and invested in a complete regional buyout? Or, better still, composed something of their own.

It’s like the fact that all the cheesey property ads, car ads, etc that pollute the airwaves of Dubai radio – are VO’d by Barry Kirsh…same voice on all of them..no worries.

Take a strong sedative and have a lie down my friend.

PS: Royal Jordanian Bubble commercial?? Never seen it.

    Simplicity! Works well here.

Nicely done but could have been better treated. Still way better than the typical “we promise the world” crap seen in the region.

Big Question is – Will it (and how) attract the moolah to Bahrain and say not Dubai or Qatar?

    ShakeMo,

You make some good points and having seen all of your spots I notice you’ve used different pieces of music.

Funnily enough the Diva opera music works the least out of all of them.

There’s two songs with lyrics about smiling that work much better and I would’ve used one of them across all.

However that’s a minor criticism for what is beautifully produced work.

  • restless

i still think that most of the smiles are fake and UGLY
for me these ads wont do shit,
