Top performers honoured at the 2009 Middle East Insurance Awards

The 2009 Middle East Insurance Awards, the most coveted awards for the insurance industry, have been announced. Awards were bestowed upon industry leaders recognising achievements made across various insurance factions - from life insurance, corporate social responsibility and broking to e-business and training.
 
The event, now in its sixth year is dedicated to rewarding good practice, innovation and outstanding contributions made to improve the industry. Judged by a panel of respected independent industry experts drawn from leading organizations including Chartered Insurance Institute and Institute of Risk Management ensures each of the 12 awards bring international recognition to winners from across the region. Entries to the awards were voluntarily submitted, requiring detailed essays and documentation on achievements in addition to independent testimonials from customers.
 
Daman National Health Insurance Company, Nexus and Royal and SunAlliance (RSA) each won two awards, while other industry accolades were received by the Insurance Commission of Jordan, Bupa Arabia, Sun Insurance Brokers, 3i Infotech, Bank Al Jazira and Aman Insurance.
 
Speaking at the awards dinner, Hussain Hadi, editor of Policy magazine and chairman of Insurex 2009 said: "In a growing marketplace it is essential to recognise and reward best practice and innovation. The Media Factory is proud to host another successful Middle East Insurance Awards event that acknowledges the excellent contributions of these leading industry players, not only to the regional insurance landscape, but also to the economy."
 
The Middle East Insurance Awards were held on day one of the Insurex 2009 conference and were a highlight of the forum. Fostering higher standards and developing greater cooperation for sustainable growth were the key messages that emerged at Insurex 2009, as delegates gathered from across the region to discuss key challenges facing the regional insurance industry.
 
Insurex is the regional insurance industry's foremost independent conference and attracts senior insurance professionals from across the Middle East. The two day event, now in its sixth year, is organised by The Media Factory and hosted by Policy Magazine - the voice of the Middle East insurance industry.

  • Regulator's Initiative of the Year was awarded to Insurance Commission of Jordan
  • Takaful Operator of the Year was awarded to Dubai Islamic Insurance & Reinsurance (Aman)
  • The E-business Award was awarded to Bupa Arabia
  • General Insurer of the Year was awarded to Royal and SunAlliance (RSA)
  • Life Insurer of the Year was awarded to Bank Al Jazira (Takaful Ta'awuni)
  • The Training Award was awarded to Nexus
  • Commercial Lines Broker of the Year was awarded to Sun Insurance Brokers
  • Personal Lines Broker of the Year was awarded to Nexus
  • Medical Insurer of the Year was awarded to National Health Insurance Company (Daman)
  • Corporate Social Responsibility Award was awarded to National Health Insurance Company (Daman)
  • Supplementary Service Provider of the Year was awarded to 3i Infotech
  • Public Awareness Campaign of the Year was to Royal and SunAlliance (RSA)
