In a major step responding to the Libyans' demand for having greater access to Al Aan news, Al Aan TV channel has successfully sought help from local technicians to relay Al Aan's audio signal over FM radio. As of the beginning of August, Al Aan's hourly news bulletins can be heard in and around Benghazi on 105.3 Mhz.

"We are getting incredible support from both ordinary citizens and the authorities in Benghazi," says Nisreen Sadek, who heads Al Aan's effort in Libya.

Sadek adds that more relay projects are in the pipeline: "Al Aan is now licensed to broadcast in Libya over both FM and terrestrial television frequencies. We are looking forward to finding more relay partners from Tobruq to Nalut, Misrata and Tripoli."

One of the citizens commented: "It is a great step that Al Aan TV made. This is specifically useful when the electricity is disconnected from my house, I can listen to Al Aan TV news on the radio or while I'm driving".
