Al Jazeera announces two new channels after launch of Balkan-based news outlet

The Al Jazeera network has confirmed it will launch two new TV channels in Turkish and Swahili in the upcoming year. Al Jazeera has been expanding internationally. The network recently launched a Balkans based news channel.

 

Al Jazeera Balkans, a news channel for Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzogovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia and Slovenia was launched on Friday. "We've launched this channel because we want to see Al Jazeera's spirit towards journalism accessible to as many people in as many tongues across the world as possible. We want Al Jazeera Balkans to truly be an open free platform for the people of the region to debate and have a free dialogue." said Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al-Thani, director general of Al Jazeera.
