Winners of the Dubai Lynx 2007 awards announced !

mediaME.com attended the inaugural Dubai Lynx 2007 tonight, 19 March 2007, at the Dubai Media City and we would like to congratulate all the winners. The ceremony was attended by 1,200 marketing communications  professionals, from all over the Middle East, but primarily from the UAE.

Dubai agencies swept the majority  of the show's awards; with JWT Dubai, TEAM Y&R Dubai and Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai winning the most  trophies.

Wunderman Dubai, TBWA/Raad, Tonic Comminications, Lowe MENA, JWT Cairo, Fortune Promoseven Dubai and Impact BBDO also had significant wins.

What was most noteworthy, and probably a first for an awards ceremony in the region, was the cancellation of Gold or Silver or Bronze trophies in several categories, and even the cancellation of some categories all together! Obviously, the jury wanted to 'raise the bar' for advertising awards events in the region.

The "Agency Of The Year" accolade was won by Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai.

Congratulations again to the winners and onto next years' Dubai Lynx, which will be expanded into an advertising festival- along the lines of Cannes International.

Wunderman Dubai won the 2nd largest number of awards, which is 12 after Saatchi & Saatchi's 16. But the point system is not based on no. of awards unfairly.

It awards one point to every shortlisted entry and 3 points to every shortlisted campaign. So, a BTL agency can never get a chance to being Agency of the Year even if they win the most awards as Direct Marketing initiatives are never campaignable.

That is not correct dude

You get 7 points for Gold award
5 points for silver
3 points for Bronze
and 1 point for every piece that is shortlisetd BUT you get a maximum 10 points per agency for shortlists which means if you get more than 10 shortlists you only get 10 points.

saatchi, wunderman, y&r, leo burnett, JWT.... they all got the 10 points for shortlist and were shortlited for more than 10 pieces.

Beside Dubai Lynx was following the same Cannes Lions system which is single entries, and the jury can rewrd a campaign if they think it is worth it. but rewarded for every single piece.

also Sir, SAATCHI & SAATCHI came first by 101 points
JWT Dubai by 86 pints
and third was Y&R
