Dubai Press Club hosts 55-member delegation of media and communication students from Dubai Women's College

The Dubai Press Club today received a delegation of 55 students of media and communications from Dubai Women's College of the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director, Dubai Press Club, received the delegation led by Dr. Hanan Hayrab, Media And Communications Department Supervisor, Dubai Women's College. The visit was part of Dubai Press Club's endeavour to enhance knowledge of media and communications among students in the UAE.

Bin Fahad said: "The Dubai Press Club believes in constantly engaging various segments of the community and it is our firm belief that students are future leaders who play a vital role in social progress. We particularly seek to interact with talented youngsters with the media institutions and grant them DPC membership that offers them an opportunity to participate in internship and other activities we organise throughout the year. We are confident through Dubai Press Club, tomorrow's media leaders will connect with prominent members of the Arab and international media."

Dr. Hanan Hayrab said: "For years, Dubai Press Club has continued to play a vital role in supporting students' programmes and activities, by offering internships and recruitment opportunities to gradutes. Today's visit helped the students understand the significant opportunities that can be utilised for their future career. We are grateful to Dubai Press Club for updating our students on the programmes as well other developments in the media sector."

Maryam Bin Fahad also briefed the students about the vision and the objectives of Dubai Press Club, and presented an overview of the current projects including the 9th edition of the Arab Media Forum and the Arab Journalisim Awards that will be held in Dubai from 12-13 May, 2010. She also provided them with a glimpse of the salient features from the third edition of Arab Media Outlook.

Recently, Dubai Press Club signed cooperation agreements with Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Youth Media Award and Mohammed bin Rashid School of Communication to offer internships prgrammes to UAE students. The agreements were in addition to its continuous cooperation with the American University of Sharjah and the Mass Communication College of Ajman University.
