Jay-Z has recently launched his own Facebook game ‘Empire’. The new game resembles Jay-Z’s own story; growing up in the housing projects of Brooklyn and eventually becoming a global hip-hop star and businessman. Empire lets you create your character, and gives you a slew of ways to earn points and move up life’s ladder – going from a hustler, to entrepreneur, to a business mogul.

Number of US gamers increases by 241%

According to a study by Parks Associates entitled 'Trends in Digital Gaming: Free-to-Play, Social and Mobile Games', the number of gamers in the United States has increased by 241% since 2008. The study revealed that 135 million people play at least one hour per month as compared to 56 million in 2008. The study further revelas that smartphone gamers have increased significantly.

Nintendo predicts first annual loss in 30 years

Bloomberg reports that Nintendo, the world’s largest maker of video-game machines, has forecasted its first annual loss in 30 years, expecting a net loss of $264 million for the year ending in March. The forecasts come in as a result of the currency rates and the slumping demand for the 3DS console as gamers flock toward online games on iPhone and Facebook.
