Ushering in a new era for the portable gaming industry and delighting gaming fans, du today announced a partnership with Sony PlayStation, to provide data bundles to power the PlayStationVita 3G - the first handheld gaming system with 3G connectivity – on the telecom’s advanced mobile network, supporting the gaming experience with speeds up to 42Mbps. Bundles will be available from du, starting from AED100.

According to a study by Parks Associates entitled 'Trends in Digital Gaming: Free-to-Play, Social and Mobile Games', the number of gamers in the United States has increased by 241% since 2008. The study revealed that 135 million people play at least one hour per month as compared to 56 million in 2008. The study further revelas that smartphone gamers have increased significantly.

RGH Game (a division of Rubicon Group Holding) has announced that Trashers, a game which invites kids of all ages to board a garbage truck and clean the streets whilst fighting trash monsters, has won its category in the ‘Best App Ever Awards 2011’. Now in its fourth year, organisers received over 1.5 million votes from the public who chose from 7,243 applications, making the awards the largest of its kind.
