Sports fans will be able to catch highlights of their favourite Barclays Premier League teams on Sky News Arabia, the 24-hour Arabic language multi-platform breaking news channel.

Highlights from the English Premier League will now be shown on Sky News Arabia following a deal with Abu Dhabi Media, the league's regional TV rights holder. Sports news segments on the channel will include highlights from the closing stages of the season, with pre and post-match and half time footage available. Meanwhile, news about next season's English Premier League will also be provided two hours after each match.

Abu Dhabi Sports announced that it will become the first broadcaster in the Middle East region to produce and broadcast LIVE HD UAE Football League soccer in Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

UAE-based satellite broadcasting company YahLive and Abu Dhabi Media (ADM) have agreed to broadcast six channels in HD throughout the region. According to a company executive, ADM had been looking to braodcast in HD for quite some time. "If you're running a media business, you have got to decide whether you run ahead of consumer demand and play some role in being a catalyst in the market or follow it," said Malcolm Wall, the chief executive of ADM "The uptake of HD seems very strong. We'll be looking at whether to extend that offering to some of our other channels, particularly our sports channels."

YahLive, the UAE based satellite broadcast company, and Abu Dhabi Media announced an exclusive partnership to broadcast six of Abu Dhabi Media's channels in HD through YahLive's satellite service.

Radio Mirchi, a Hindi-language station, has been launched in the UAE as part of a global expansion plan by India's largest FM brand. With the help of the Entertainment Network, a subsidiary of The Times of India Group, the Abu Dhabi Media will broadcast the station over three different frequencies in the UAE. Radio Mirchi marks the Abu Dhabi Media's first foray into Hindi-language broadcasting.

Abu Dhabi Media and Entertainment Network (India) Limited, a subsidiary of The Times of India Group, have spiced up the airwaves in the Emirates with the launch of India's largest FM brand, Radio Mirchi.

RapidTVNews reports that Goal.com claims that Al Jazeera Sports is to bid for the rights to broadcast the English Premier League in both the MENA region and on a pay per view basis in the UK, when overseas bidding for the 2013-14 season begins.
