ArabianBusiness.com reports that an initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice president and prime minister and ruler of Dubai, aims to establish the UAE as a global ‘centre of excellence’ for the Arabic language. Sheikh Mohammed added that nurturing the Arabic language is important to uphold the Emirati national identity for future generations. Part of the initiative will see the setting up of an Arabic Language Charter and the formation of an international committee of experts to promote Arabic as the language of science and technology.

Arabian Business reports that Al Jazeera’s agents in the UAE have agreed to refund the value of viewing cards that have failed to show full coverage of the World Cup following a number of complaints from consumers who have been urged to report illegal price hikes. Al Jazeera also agreed during a meeting with the Ministry of Economy to pay the difference on any viewing cards sold over the recommended price.

Arabian Business reports that Oman Air will launch an international advertising campaign that will run across broadcast, print, online and TV broadcast. The $10 million campaign follows a major expansion of Oman Air’s global routes. The broadcast campaign was created by Spanish production house La Cosa de las Películas, while others were created by Germany's Shanghai DGM and developed by Wunderman Muscat.
