Brazil, India, and China lead mobile ad growth

According to a new Yankee Group study, the U.S.’s place at the forefront of mobile advertising is quickly coming to a close as ad dollars will increasingly flow to emerging markets, where mobile is the primary digital platform rather than the PC. Brazil, China, and India's mobile ad spend will grow sixfold to more than $6 billion by 2016. Meanwhile, U.S. mobile ad spending  will flatten to about half that amount in four years, while Europe will see even less expansion, as mobile ad revenue is not expected to rise considerably from the estimated $1 billion total of 2012.


FIFA plans to launch YouTube channel that will feature exclusive Brazilian content

According to Rapid TV News, FIFA has confirmed plans to launch an official channel on YouTube called 'FIFA TV', which will offer produced and user-generated football content leading up to the World Cup taking place in Brazil in 2014. "FIFA is keen to engage with football fans beyond our competitions by sharing our rich visual content with them, and for this there is no better platform in terms of reach and penetration than YouTube," said FIFA President Sepp Blatter. 


Nokia sells 1.5 billionth Series 40 phone

Finnish company Nokia has announced that the company has now sold 1.5 billion Series 40 based handsets. According to Nokia, this milestone figure was reached in Brazil after one of their Asha 303 devices was purchased by a 21-year-old woman in the Brazilian city of São Paulo.


Second iPhone explodes, sparks safety concerns

A second iPhone 4 'explosion' was reported in Brazil on Wednesday. The iPhone started emitting smoke after it had been plugged to charge overnight. A similar incident with the iPhone was reported earlier in the week, after an iPhone 4 caught fire on an Australian passenger jet. The handsets are being examined to determine the exact cause, however it is believed that faulty batteries may be the reason for the 'explosions'.
