The 5th edition of the Media and Marketing Show (MMS), the region's premier event for the media and marketing industry, opened its doors to the public and media professionals today.
The 3-day event was inaugurated by HH Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director General, Department of Information, Dubai, who stressed the importance of niche industry events such as MMS as key to bolstering the media and marketing sector and fostering the overall resurgence of the economy.
Organized by the Domus Group, MMS 2009 has a strong focus on the broadcast and production industry, attracting industry giants CNN and Al Arabiya News Channel, as well as O3 Productions, MBC Group's production arm, Busy Bee and more. In addition, the event will also present first time participant Samanyolu TV, one of the highest-rated TV channels in Turkey. Other prominent exhibitors from the broadcast industry include Al Aan TV, Orient TV, Al Aquaria TV, Decision Makers and Fujairah Media.

MMS 2009 will also host a two-day workshop, titled "Breaking the News" on November 4th and 5th. Organized by Center for International News Education & Media Advancement, "CINEMA", the workshop is designed for broadcast professionals who want to enhance their television news reporting, presenting, and production skills. It will introduce participants to inside secrets and power techniques practiced by the top television and broadcast news networks in the United States and around the world.

Market research pioneers IPSOS started a series of workshops that will stretch over the three day event, stressing on effective outdoor and broadcast advertising measurement.
The second day of the show will feature the Al Arabiya Media and Communication Forum, in which participants will be discussing the Future and Challenges of the industry and the impact of the financial crisis on telecommunication and how best to find opportunities and maintain sustained growth.
The Media and Marketing Show 2009 is taking place from November 3-5 at the Zabeel Hall, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and opens its doors from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm.

Ipsos MENA is conducting a detailed media and advertising trend analysis study looking at the top advertising agencies, leading brands and sector performance in the region. The Media and Marketing Show 2008 (MMS), the region's premier event for the media and marketing industry, opened its doors to the public on Monday, November 02, 2008
'The communications industry in Dubai and the UAE at large is serving as a model for the rest of the region. The Media and Marketing Show is an initiative in the direction of providing a boost to this particular sector, as well as providing a forum for communication professionals from across the region.'
He added: 'This year in particular we have a very impressive line-up of conferences and workshops that will undoubtedly be of great significance and help to attending media professionals.'
Ellen Sandler, the Emmy-nominated Co-Executive Producer and writer of Everybody Loves Raymond announced that she will be conducting a workshop titled 'Everybody Loves Sitcoms' presented by Hollywood in Dubai, which will teach the participants the necessary skills required to produce, sell, and market sitcoms to television networks and studios.
The two-day workshop will be held on the second and third day of the show (November 4 and 5) Hollywood in Dubai will also give the visitors of the show a chance to win the original script of the famous series 'Friends' in a raffle draw that will take place on November 5th upon dropping their business cards at the registration.
With over 200 exhibitors from 55 countries and representing 600 regional brands, the Media and Marketing Show 2008 will offer visitors a unique and once-in-a-year perspective of the incredible range and diversity in the region's media spectrum.
Among the new elements of the show is the MMS Internal Conference, which will be taking place on the second and third day of the show.
The main topics to be discussed in the conference will be Online Advertising presented by Google and Ayna, the flow of information between freedom and governing rules by Al Manar TV, and the introduction of International Media in the regional market by Sunday Times.
Ipsos MENA and Applied Digital Media Services will both be offering a series of workshops on media research methodologies and opportunities, and Apple and Adobe software respectively.
Also, ITP will be running the Arabian Business Media and Marketing Conference 2008 on the first day of the show, featuring 6 of the region's leading media personalities talk about marketing communications, and journalism in the region.

Q1. Kindly give us some background information on why Domus launched the Media Marketing Show (MMS) and how it evolved over the years.
Domus Group launched the MMS in order to showcase the interaction between Media and Business. Referring to the business opportunities in the Middle East, media serves the business via showcasing the opportunities to the audience.
Q2. Tell us about the importance of trade shows (exhibitions) and how the MMS in Dubai is a unique annual meeting opportunity for the media industry.
Trade shows provide direct interaction between buyers and sellers. MMS is a unique meeting opportunity as it is serving 11 sectors of media such as production, broadcasting, online, marketing, and more; the uniqueness involves in combining all media and marketing sectors under one umbrella that is MMS.
Q3. How has regional response been to all the developments you've made for the 2008 edition of MMS? Tell us about participants from countries other than the UAE.
The positive responses are increasing year after year, but our marketing focus is expanding to the international level. This year Hollywood in Dubai is organizing a workshop in cooperation with Hollywood HD Studios and this workshop will be conducted by Ellen Sandler, the Emmy Nominated Writer and Executive Producer of the worldwide famous show “Everybody Loves Raymond”. This is an example of international participation, as we are also having more participation across the Middle East.
Q4. Alongside the show, there will be workshops and a marketing conference. Could you kindly tell us more about these activities.
We will be having two workshops, one organized by Hollywood in Dubai and the other by IPSOS. As we will be having a conference conducted by ITP, we are having another internal conference for exhibitors that will be conducted by MMS organizers.
Q5. Anything you would like to add regarding this event, or future plans by Domus to serve the media and marketing sector?
I would like people who visit the show to give us their feedback, as we are expanding and focusing on the 11 segments as we have an increase in participation from each segment year after year.

The 3rd consecutive Media and Marketing Show 2007, the region's top platform for the media and marketing, starts today and runs till Tuesday the 13th of November 2007. It has attracted some of the region's leading advertising, media and marketing industry players as exhibitors, while visitor registrations continue to increase rapidly.
'This year's MMS is even more innovative in its content and format,' Abdullah Abulhoul, Managing Director, Domus Group. 'Our research shows that very often exhibition visitors do not have the privilege of accessing the press conference venues. This is a barrier that we have removed with the introduction of the Announcement Zone.'
The 'Announcement Zone' will cover an area of 200 sq meters within the exhibition area. It will allow each exhibitor to announce their latest partnerships and deals, as well as newly launched and existing services and products, during a 45 minute slot between 1pm to 7pm on each of the three days of the event.
Visitors to the event can interact one-on-one with industry leading CEOs and MDs who are spearheading change in the media industry. Among those attending the event will be speakers from BPA Worldwide, the global industry resource for verified audience data and media knowledge, who will highlight the need for rigor, objectivity, accuracy, transparency and timely audits that provide solid assurance for both media owners and media buyers.
Television companies such as MANAR TV, Sharjah TV and the newly formed Al JADEED TV will highlight trends in religious reporting and the laws governing broadcast industry.
The Media and Marketing Show will be held at the Dubai International Exhibition and Conference Centre between November 11th and 13th, 2007 from 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM
