Local newspapers brim with advertisements as election candidates in Abu Dhabi take to the stand in the first week of campaigning. The National cites that 30 pages of Arabic adverts were printed in newspapers in the first week. Front page spots in Al Bayan and Al Ittihad are fully booked until the end of the campaign on September 21, 2011.

Dubai Media Inc. (DMI) in association with Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development on Sunday launched a campaign to recycle papers used by its affiliate newspapers.The initiative, which is part of the green paper draft to preserve the environment, will help save at least 30 per cent of papers used in the UAE, Emarat Al Youm reported.

Followed by Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum’s instructions, government controlled radio stations, newspapers and television will be brought under the umbrella of one holding company. The emailed statement specifies that all assets, rights, contracts and liabilities will be transferred from Arab Media Group to Dubai Media Inc.
