According to AFP, The Arab League has asked Arabsat to halt the transmission of the Libyan Jamahiriya channel and all television channels affiliated with the Libyan authorities, in compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1973. Lawyers have accused regime broadcasters, Al-Jamahiriya and Al-Jamahiriya 2, of inciting hatred and violence by painting rebels as terrorists seeking to split the country in two.

Rapid TV News reports that French international news channel, France 24, has announced it has broken a record viewing score on website france24.com last January, receiving 10.4 million visits and around 52 million pageviews on its three language versions (French, English, and Arabic). According to the report, the Arabic feed alone has accounted for a 63 % growth on the website and a 67 % growth on the mobile during the month of January.

The application offers three languages and free access to three live channels. The Arabic-language channel France 24 passes to 24h daily broadcast from Tuesday, October 12th, at noon (Paris time). Less than four years after its launch in December 2006, France 24 is the first French channel to provide a channel in Arabic entirely dedicated to international news. From a broadcast of four hours per day since April 2nd, 2007, the chain had grown to 10 hours per day in April 2009.
