Qatar's telecommunications regulator ictQATAR have announced a strategic partnership with Internet company Yahoo! to develop digital media and content in the country. Yahoo! will work closely with ictQATAR to "cultivate innovation, stimulate online growth and nurture entrepreneurship". Under the terms of the agreement, Yahoo! will offer its expertise regarding digital content, multi platform applications, and digital advertising. Yahoo will also work closely with local entrepreneurs and start-ups.

According to The Peninsula, a report by ictQatar cites that Qatar's overall internet penetration stands at 82%. The country's internet usage includes emailing, downloading music and movies, watching videos, and researching goods and services representing the most popular usages.



This is a great time for satellite broadcasters and service providers in the Middle East and North Africa. International broadcasters are committed to the future of this technology, providers are increasing capacity and reinvigorated conditional access systems are ensuring profitability.
The Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) is seeking views and comments from interested parties on its proposed Radio Spectrum Policy for the State of Qatar. The Public Consultation document on the Radio Spectrum Policy was published today on ictQATAR's website www.ictQATAR.qa.
