According to a new Yankee Group study, the U.S.’s place at the forefront of mobile advertising is quickly coming to a close as ad dollars will increasingly flow to emerging markets, where mobile is the primary digital platform rather than the PC. Brazil, China, and India's mobile ad spend will grow sixfold to more than $6 billion by 2016. Meanwhile, U.S. mobile ad spending will flatten to about half that amount in four years, while Europe will see even less expansion, as mobile ad revenue is not expected to rise considerably from the estimated $1 billion total of 2012.

Al Jazeera English has announced its launch on India’s Tata Sky platform. This will enable the channel to reach an additional 9 million Indian households, taking its total reach across the country to over 25 million households. "We are delighted to be launching on Tata Sky, and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all our new viewers in India to Al Jazeera English", said Al Anstey, Managing Director of Al Jazeera English.

According to analytics firm StatCounter, users accessing the Web through mobile devices has doubled every year since 2009. In its latest report, StatCounter says that global Internet usage through mobile devices rose to 8.5%. According to the firm's report, the global leader in mobile Web devices is Nokia, accounting for 40 % of usage. The firm believes that Nokia's global dominance is due to its high penetration in emerging markets like India.

Facebook and Google have removed web pages considered offensive to India’s political and religious leadership in order to satisfy a court order. Indian prosecutors are suing a number of Internet companies on behalf of a Muslim religious leader who has accused them of hosting content that insults Islam. Google India did not reveal which sites were removed, while Facebook admitted to removing content from some 'Indian domain websites'.

According to IE Market Research Corp, global mobile entertainment revenues will grow by one-third in four years. The Vancouver-based company expects mobile entertainment revenues to reach $53.9 billion by 2016, up from $39.6 billion in 2011.

The Indian government has asked popular websites including Google and Facebook to monitor and ban user generated content on their sites. According to Reuters, India's telecom minister Kapil Sibal has met with Google, Facebook and Yahoo officials in order to create monitoring mechanisms that would help in preventing ‘disparaging, inflammatory or defamatory' content from being posted online. As of Tuesday, agreements between the parties involved were not yet reached.

Aidem Venture has been appointed as Al Jazeera's media representative in India, for its English, Arabic, Documentary and Mobaher channels. Al Jazeera marks this decision after being granted a license to broadcast in the South Asian nation seven months ago.
