The new game resembles Jay-Z’s own story; growing up in the housing projects of Brooklyn and eventually becoming a global hip-hop star and businessman. Empire lets you create your character, and gives you a slew of ways to earn points and move up life’s ladder – going from a hustler, to entrepreneur, to a business mogul.

Pinterest’s traffic growth declining

According to digital analytics company comScore, Pinterest has recently had less traffic from unique visitors. Although the number of unique visitors is still up compared to recent months, Pinterest growth-rate has declined during the 'February to March' period when compared with the 'January to February' period.


CNN to buy Mashable for $200m

CNN is said to be in advanced talks to acquire Mashable. The sale could be announced as early as Tuesday in a deal worth more than $200m. Mashable, which was founded by Scottish-born Pete Cashmore in 2005, covers social media and technology news and has expanded to business and entertainment news as well. Mashable has a large following, with more than 20 million unique monthly visitors.


Google, Facebook censor content in India due to court order

Facebook and Google have removed web pages considered offensive to India’s political and religious leadership in order to satisfy a court order. Indian prosecutors are suing a number of Internet companies on behalf of a Muslim religious leader who has accused them of hosting content that insults Islam. Google India did not reveal which sites were removed, while Facebook admitted to removing content from some 'Indian domain websites'.


Twitter hits 200 million tweets in June compared to 100 million in January

Twitter CEO, Dick Costolo, has recently shared some interesting stats about Twitter’s growth, confirming that it has now more than 100 million active users, half of which log in daily, with more than 200 million tweets per day in June, a 100 per cent growth since January. Costolo added that signups via iOS device have tripled since the launch of iOS 5.

iPad accounts for 97.2% of tablet traffic

According to web analytics firm comScore, smartphones and tablets accounted for 6.8% of all web traffic in the U.S. in August. Approximately two-thirds of that 6.8% came from mobile phones, while the remaining third came from tablet devices. The iPad dominated the latter category, accounting for 97.2% of tablet traffic.

Facebook to introduce new expandable advertising unit

Facebook will be introducing a new type of advertising during this week’s Advertising Week in New York, that expands when a friend 'likes' a brand. The new advertising unit, unlike the Sponsored Stories rolled out last January, will allow users to like and comment, based on the belief that ads with recommendations of friends are more effective than standard display ads, according to Mashable.
