According to a new report by Juniper Research, the number of streamed mobile TV users on smartphones will increase to 240 million by 2014. The report shows that the increase will be driven by a rise in smartphone penetration and an increasing usage of live and on-demand services both on TVs and PCs.

Rapid TV News reports that the free-to-air revolution has started for mobile TV, a trend that research firm In-Stat says will contribute to a worldwide market value for mobile TV tuners that will exceed $400 million by 2014. Devices that will likely incorporate such a mobile TV tuner include mobile phones, laptops and notebooks, portable media players, PDAs and smartphones, portable navigation devices (GPS), portable game consoles and automotive TVs.
