Sports fans will be able to catch highlights of their favourite Barclays Premier League teams on Sky News Arabia, the 24-hour Arabic language multi-platform breaking news channel.

Highlights from the English Premier League will now be shown on Sky News Arabia following a deal with Abu Dhabi Media, the league's regional TV rights holder. Sports news segments on the channel will include highlights from the closing stages of the season, with pre and post-match and half time footage available. Meanwhile, news about next season's English Premier League will also be provided two hours after each match.


Sky News Arabia has signed a number of distribution deals for extended coverage. Starting from May 6th, the subscription satellite TV platforms OSN and Abu Dhabi TV will broadcast the 24-hour Arabic channel in high definition (HD) region-wide. Meanwhile, Etisalat's eLife and du TV will carry Sky News Arabia in standard definition (SD) via their internet protocol television (IPTV) networks.

The launch of 24-hour Arabic language breaking news channel Sky News Arabia on May 6, 2012 is set to reach television households across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region following the signing of distribution deals with a number of premium television platforms, including OSN and the Abu Dhabi TV Network in High Definition and the EtisalateLife TV and du IPTV platforms in Standard Definition.

The channel, which promises 'a new horizon' for news reporting across the Arab world, will be available on Transponder 14 on Arabsat Badr 4, Transponder 15 on Nilesat 201, on du IPTV and e-Life platforms plus in high definition on the OSN pay-TV platform.

Sky News Arabia is gearing up for its spring launch. The Abu Dhabi-based broadcaster, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi Media Investment Company and British Sky Broadcasting, is preparing itself for its launch across the MENA region with 24 hour rehearsals. "With all of our staff now in place, we are really gearing up to launch. This challenging move, ahead of schedule, will test our resources - technical and editorial - to the maximum as we prepare ourselves for the task of running a 24-hour news operation. It's a very exciting time," said Nart Bouran, head of Sky News Arabia.
