According to ZenithOptimedia projections, the Internet will attract 21% more ad spend each year, and will take a total 22.1% stake by 2014. ZenithOptimedia's latest findings show that 25% of advertising money is already online in Denmark, Norway, South Korea, Sweden and the UK. The findings also show that Canada, China, Norway, South Korea, Sweden and the UK will hit 30% by 2014.

Pinterest's has captured marketers' attention by being a giant source of referral traffic over the past few months. Meanwhile, the digital pinboard has faced widespread criticism due to copyright violations. However, Marketers and digital managers are finding ways to benefit from Pinterest, either from referral traffic or by 'pinning' their own products.

The BBC is developing an iTunes-like service that would allow UK viewers to download old and new BBC TV shows. According to PaidContent, the BBC wants to make all of its shows available as download-to-own (DTO), at about £1.89 per show. The BBC has been negotiating for rights with independent producers that make some of their shows. The service could serve as a new source of revenue and serves as an opportunity to defend their broadcasting against piracy.

According to a study by mobile marketing and technology company Nellymoser, action codes became much more prevalent in the top 100 U.S. magazines in 2011, increasing 439% from 352 codes in the first quarter to 1,899 codes in the fourth quarter. The study revealed that mobile action codes are much more likely to be used in ads than in editorial content, and that most action codes were used to showcase a video.

According to a study ComScore, 30% of ad impressions on the web never actually seen by a viewer. According to the study, 69% of ad impressions were classified as being in view, while the remaining 31% were delivered but never seen by a consumer for various reasons. ComScore's study involved 12 national brands, 3,000 placements, 381,000 site domains and 1.7 billion ad impressions.

Quarterly figures from Marin Software indicate that mobiles and tablets accounted for 10 % of all search ad clicks in the U.S. in fourth quarter of 2011. This translates in to double the amount of clicks seen in the third quarter. Mobile phones and tablets continue to increase and outdo search ads on PCs in terms of growth, although they still represent only a fraction of impressions and investment.

According to industry experts, Facebook will delay the release of its 'Timeline' feature because of its legal issues with Timelines Inc. Timelines Inc., a small Chicago company that operates the Timelines.com website, sued Facebook for trademark infringement after Facebook announced its new 'Timeline' feature for profiles in September.
