The Art Director ensures the quality of all designs produced as well as establishes corporate style and identity for all company products, and supervises the creative team and any design work related to the department, or the company as a whole.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Art Director will work under the supervision of the Productions Manager to execute the overall design operations, which include:
1. Be an Information Expert demonstrating our core values and commitment as a company.
2. Supervise the creative department and any creative work executed within, ensuring the quality of the ideas and the execution.
3. Develop and deliver concepts and ideas (whether verbal or visual) for all of the company’s BTL (Below The Line) and some ATL (Above The Line) designs and materials, including book covers, designs and packages; advertising material and concepts; booklets; catalogues; etc.
4. Balance and prioritize projects, and ensure meeting the deadlines, as well as delegate responsibilities to the design team.
5. Assigning specs for any products, communicate with Productions Manager any issues related to hard copy productions.
6. Be available to do the fieldwork, i.e visiting printers, photographers, copyrighters, etc.
7. Direct photoshoots and supervise commissioned photographers for any departmental productions (books or advertising material).
8. Manage any filing or paper work related to the department.
9. Be willing to fill in any gaps when needed within the company.
Skills
1. Proven ability to creatively design sales, advertising and public relations materials including logos, marketing collateral, educational materials, etc.
2. Creativity and Superior knowledge of layout principles and an esthetic and conceptual creativity.
3. Mastery of Adobe design software.
4. A passion for the book industry as well as reading exposure.
5. Administrative and communication skills.
6. Creativity, conceptual ability.
7. Ability to work within a team and to be a motivator, flexibility and availability.
8. Fluent in English and Arabic.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalant in Graphic Design/Art or related field.
