Rapid TVNews reports that ART, the largest Middle East pay-TV platform, will be switching from Irdeto to Viaccess just days prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament in an attempt to hold-back piracy and infringement.

RapidTVNews reports that ART, the largest Arab pay-TV operator, is suffering from uncontrolled TV piracy, which has also been common among other Arab pay-TV broadcasters in the region.

RapidTVNews reports that Dubai says its 5 TV channels will go HDTV. “The move is in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,” said the official communiqué.
