National Geographic Abu Dhabi (NGAD) witnessed an impressive response of 80,445entries into its second Photomentaries photography contest. The month-long contest, open to the public throughout the Middle East, was launched on February 1, 2012 inviting viewers to use their photography skills to illustrate the competition’s theme, ‘Capture Life in Motion’. The contest is part of a month long photo fest encompassing a TV series that follows National Geographic photographers on their assignments and a series of photography seminars conducted by a National Geographic photographer in the UAE.

For the fourth year in a row, Fox Movies brings the 84th Academy Awards live to Middle East viewers - the biggest night in Hollywood will be back on the channel along with a whole host of special programming initiatives.  Hosted for the ninth time by Billy Crystal, the show will be broadcast live from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre on February 27 at 1.am KSA/2am UAE.  As part of the live programming,  Fox Movies will cover the Red Carpet arrivals at 1.00am KSA/2.00am UAE; the 84th Academy Awards preshow at 3.00am KSA/4.00am UAE and the Academy Awards Ceremony at 4.30am KSA / 5. 30 am UAE. 

National Geographic Abu Dhabi is set to launch Photomentaries 2012 on February 1st, a one month-long festival that celebrates photography in the region. Photomentaries comprises of a TV series featuring the world’s most amazing photography assignments undertaken by National Geographic photographers, as well as a photography competition with the theme ‘Capture Life in Motion.
