Arab News reports that Rotana Group chaired by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, has launched a new general entertainment channel directed for the Egyptian Market The new channel has top-class shows, series and movies.The channel will also air a program presented by the renowned Hala Sarhan, president of Rotana Studios.

Rapid TV News has reported that News Corp’s deal with Rotana is now 99% complete and will take place in January. News Corp will own 10% of Rotana’s shares. The announcement also stated a $26.7 million distribution deal between Rotana Media Group and Walt Disney Co., giving Rotana the advantage of competing for regional viewers.

The first free-to-air branded Hollywood movie channel is to be launched in the region by a partnership between Fox International Channels and Rotana Media Services, reported Gulf News. Fox Movies started airing last Thursday, with content targeted at the Arab population.
Fillers between movies will be tailored to the local niche market and movies will have Arabic subtitles.
