Google is set to spend millions of dollars on a 'privacy' ad campaign in the U.S. that urges people to protect their personal information online. The campaign offers practical advice and tips, including how to manage the data they share with Google and other websites.

Google has responded to Twitter's claims that the site's new 'Search Plus Your World' initiative is overreaching and prevents competition. The company reacted by insisting that 'Search Plus' incorporates content from across the web into users’ personalized search results. “Search Plus Your World builds on the social search that we launched in 2009, and can surface public content from sites across from the web such as Quora, FriendFeed, LiveJournal, Twitter, and WordPress.”
