His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation and Sharjah Media Centre delivered a speech at a press conference organized by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah to announce the 13th edition of Sir Bu Nair Environmental Festival.

Sharjah Media Corporation is set to launch two new channels that are dedicated to local culture. The “East Coast from Kalba” (Al Sharqia Min Kalba) channel, has already started its test broadcasting on Sharjah TV. According to Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation, the channel will air for six hours a day on Sharjah TV until the channel’s seperate infrastructure is completed.

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, emphasized on Sharjah Media Centre's key role in promoting the presence of media in the emirate, supporting Arab and foreign media, and acting as a bridge for positive communication in order to achieve the emirate's cultural and media vision.

His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qassimi, Chairman, Sharjah Media Corporation, stressed on the importance of endorsing the highest standards of management for the first Government Communication Forum in Sharjah.

Sharjah Media Centre, the communication arm of the government of Sharjah, brought together over 50 foreign and local journalists as part of its 'East Meets West' initiative held on the sidelines of the 30th Sharjah International Book Fair.

The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) represented by the National Computer Emergency Team (aeCERT) – a TRA initiative – signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC).

Emirates News Agency (WAM) reports that the UAE Television Audience Measurement (TAM) project, a project initiated by NMC, Abu Dhabi Media Company, Dubai Media Incorporated, Sharjah Media Corporation and Etisalat will involve the placement and use of the device ‘PeopleMeter’ in a selected number of residences across the UAE in order to collect statistics and information regarding audience viewing preferences. The objective of this project is to develop a deep and detailed understanding of UAE TV viewership to ensure that the commissioning and development of television programming and television advertising in the UAE are strategic in their design and execution.
