According to Reuters, Google has reported a 37 per cent increase in revenue and a 26 per cent increase in its profit in the third Quarter of 2011. Shares of Google rose to $594.01 in extended trade after closing 1.91 per cent higher on Nasdaq.

According to a report from Nielsen, Google’s Android operating system (OS) now claims the largest share of the U.S. consumer smartphone market with 39 percent. Apple’s iOS is in second place with 28 percent, while RIM Blackberry is down to 20 percent.

According to the June 2011 monthly Global Video Insights Report, the iPhone has become the most popular mobile video device. This report comes from mobile video delivery firm Vuclip. Contrary to popular perception, Nokia and RIM (BlackBerry) devices have traditionally been the most popular in mobile video views.


A report by Morgan Stanley has revealed that mobile internet is now gaining popularity over desktop internet and will be bigger by year 2014. The study titled “The Mobile Internet Report” also revealed that smartphone evolution has been a major and direct contributor to mobile internet growth.
