The survey probed general cellular usage habits, smartphones awareness in addition to tablets availability among cellular users in Kuwait. The Kuwait smartphone survey follows the three smartphone survey reports concluded in Jordan, UAE and Saudi Arabia.

New research from Viacom indicates that tablets are the primary alternative to watching full-length TV shows when traditional TV is not available. According to a Viacom survey, tablets comprised a 15% share of viewing full-length TV episodes after traditional TV. Overall, 62% of people use their tablets daily, and spend 2.4 hours per day on their devices. Meanwhile, 85% of tablet users use their device for personal reasons rather than business.


One in four tablet owners click to view ads

According to a new study by Nielsen, 24% of tablet owners and 11% of smartphone owners have clicked an ad they were viewing on their devices to learn more about the product or promotion. The study entitled “State of the Media: U.S. Digital Consumer Report” also found that 23% of tablet owners and 20% of smartphone owners made purchases via their devices.

Speaking at a Goldman Sachs technology conference, Cook said that the growth of tablets "will be good for the PC industry, because there will be this strong competitor and tablets will innovate like crazy and customers will decide which to buy. According to the latest research from GfK MRI’s iPanel, a new survey group composed exclusively of tablet and e-reader owners, more than half of both male and female tablet owners are interested in reading digital magazines. According to the research, the proportion is higher among males, with 77% of male tablet owners saying they want to read digital magazines on their device, compared to 68% of female tablet owners.

According to the latest tablet tracking report from Futuresource Consulting, 15.5 million tablets were shipped in the third quarter of 2011. This marks an 11 million unit year-over-year increase. The report shows that the US leads the way in tablet adoption, accounting for 46% of global ownership. Europe is experiencing slower sales, recording 4.2 million shipments in the third quarter, compared to 7.1 million in the US. However, the market still experienced a 300% year-over-year growth.
