Advertisers turn to social media as London summer Olympics approaches

As the date for the London summer Olympics fast approaches, advertisers and marketers are placing high hopes on social media outlets, particularly on Facebook, to get more consumers to buy their products. Most brands are developing ways to calculate what each click of the "like" or "share" button is worth, based on factors like number of people who saw it, engaged with it, and the total time spent on a particular campaign.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Regional Events Manager, the role is responsible for planning, execution, evaluation and measurement of events.  The ability to work as part of a global team is essential as the role involves supporting colleagues in order to ensure global visibility and sharing of best practices.  This role will work closely with marketing colleagues in the region - where applicable program managers and time zone leads for each of the customer segments - to coordinate requirements and act as a center of expertise for all events activity in the region.
 
Responsibilities:
 
• Deliver a continuous high level of service across all events, providing transparency on spend to drive cost efficiencies, ensuring that marketing ROI is maximized; provide financials to Regional Event Manager.
• Provide input and ideas on how best to reach targeted audiences in the region.
• In consultation with the Regional Event Manager, recommend alternative solutions to specific challenges where a traditional event type may not be appropriate.
• Maintain company-wide consistency across the brand and identity.
• Keep abreast of:
•Relevant industry events
•Latest technology, virtual and social media trends (webcasting, podcasting, blogging etc), making recommendations for use, when appropriate
• Contribute to regular, regional updates on program performance and ensure that calendar activity is shared globally, internally and, where appropriate, externally.
• Day-to-day management of third-party agencies who will work on high-complexity events in country, ensuring that they meet service level agreements.
• Participate in global event marketing group meetings to share best practices and report results, challenges etc.
• Be a champion of the new approach to event marketing.  Embrace the company's working practices and nurture and encourage others to do so.

Required skills:
 
• 5-7 years experience in event management or related field
• Ability to travel frequently (up to 60%); flexible approach to working hours
• Strong customer focus, ability to represent the language skills, cultures and needs of the customer within respective regions and across the globe
• Strong business acumen, ability to make profitable and quick business decisions; accountable for event ROI, data and budget management
• Ability to multitask, prioritize workload and work under tight deadlines within a fast paced environment, delivering projects on time and to budget
• Strong relationship building skills; build and maintain networks across and beyond the organization to help deliver core objectives
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and other related applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent English is a requirement and Arabic language will be an advantage
