Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) Europe, home to kids' brands including Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito, announced its acquisition of Latibaer, the Icelandic entity which owns and operates the LazyTown brand.

Cartoonito is now available on Cartoon Network Arabia, free to air across the Middle East and North Africa via the Nilesat and Arabsat satellites. Its popular characters will join Cartoon Network’s internationally produced stalwarts, such as Powderpuff Girls, as well as locally produced Arabic animations such as Rubicon’s Ben and Izzy, and Lammtara’s Freej and Skatoony.

The National has reported that Turner Broadcasting, a unit of the US media conglomerate Time Warner, has signed a partnership deal with the Jordan-based production company Rubicon Group to broadcast around the world children’s television shows produced in the Middle East. The partnership is aimed at taking great content from this region and showing it around the world.
