Emirates News Agency (WAM) reports that the UAE Television Audience Measurement (TAM) project, a project initiated by NMC, Abu Dhabi Media Company, Dubai Media Incorporated, Sharjah Media Corporation and Etisalat will involve the placement and use of the device ‘PeopleMeter’ in a selected number of residences across the UAE in order to collect statistics and information regarding audience viewing preferences. The objective of this project is to develop a deep and detailed understanding of UAE TV viewership to ensure that the commissioning and development of television programming and television advertising in the UAE are strategic in their design and execution.

Emirates News Agency reports that the first Arabic address website has been launched by the UAE's Presidential Affairs Ministry in cooperation with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). The UAE is now one of the four countries in the world allowed by the Internet Corporation Assigned for Names and Numbers (ICCAN) to use the internet domain in its mother tongue.

WAM reports that a memorandum of understanding has been signed between Abu Dhabi Media Company, Sharjah Media Inc., Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat), and the National Media Council (NMC), to launch the TV Audience Measurement project (TAM). One company will be licensed to undertake and manage the project. National Media Council and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority will regularly monitor fairness, transparency and confidentiality.
